For his unique brand of socially-frustrated hip-hop, Pip Skid has been described as “the ugly truth” (marathonofdope.com). For over 15 years now, the veteran wordsmith has fearlessly forged his own path through the barren and harsh Canadian prairies. From the seminal Manitoban hip-hop group Farm Fresh, to Western Canada’s most prominent indie-rap label, Peanuts & Corn, to the international hip-hop label Marathon of Dope; Pip’s travels have now lead him to leaving his skid mark on the Foultone Records catalogue.

Despite the awkward awareness of each other’s potentially conflicting neuroses, the musical chemistry between Dj Kutdown and Pip Skid could no longer be ignored. Appropriately entitled Skid Row, the album that these two Western Canadian hip-hop icons have put together combines Pip Skid’s raw energy and powerful voice with Kutdown’s grimey boom-bap production. It will be hard to find a more highly-anticipated purely-Canadian hip-hop album for 2010. There is little doubt about it: Skid Row offers everything that is required to become an instant classic!
